“The dTIMS platform is an enterprise asset management solution that encompasses strategic planning with maintenance operations and capital investment decision making.”
Deighton Associates Ltd. is a world leader in providing enterprise asset management systems and asset management expertise at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Recognized as the premier software product for infrastructure asset management, dTIMS® is used to manage large infrastructure networks in Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and the United States. These infrastructure networks include hundreds of thousands of miles of pavements, thousands of bridges, and millions of wastewater, stormwater, and freshwater distribution pipe assets.
Deighton Associates Ltd. and Atkins Denmark announced that they have signed a 5-year undertaking with the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) for the deployment and implementation of the dTIMS Complete Enterprise Platform. Deployed in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment and hosted in Europe, Deighton, partnered with Atkins Denmark, is excited to welcome the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) to the family with the implementation of their new asset management system.
The dTIMS platform is an enterprise asset management solution that encompasses strategic planning with maintenance operations and capital investment decision making. Providing a comprehensive digital overview of all infrastructure assets, dTIMS will provide the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) with the information and resources to effectively and efficiently maintain their infrastructure assets while minimizing unnecessary spending.
“For years we have worked with a number of in-house systems that have served us well, but they are becoming outdated, so we have now purchased a completely new IT system. With it in hand, we will be able to manage our maintenance work more effectively,” says Gert von der Ahe, Technical Director, Danish Road Directorate. “With dTIMS, we will have a standardized system that is widely used around the world, and will benefit from the development, knowledge, and experience of other clients. The system will ensure more valid data, automate data collection, and give us a picture of the economics of our various maintenance tasks. Overall, we are talking about improving the efficiency of the way we manage our maintenance work.”
The Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) deployment of the dTIMS Complete Enterprise Platform includes:
- dTIMS Business Analytics (BA)
- dTIMS Operations Management (OM)
- dTIMS Business Intelligence (BI)
- dTIMS Mobile
dTIMS will be used to maintain the pavements and bridges associated with the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet), with the possibility for expansion into other infrastructure assets in the future.
In another instance, the State of Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has successfully implemented dTIMS Business Analytics (BA) to replace their existing legacy pavement management system. The National Highway System (NHS) is a significant component of Georgia’s transportation system. It is comprised of approximately 7,200 miles of roadway.
Implementation of dTIMS for Pavement Management enabled GDOT to develop long-term strategies, support life-cycle planning, inform selection of treatments for delivery within a short-term program and provide strategic long term projections in support of GDOT’s TAMP. Arcadis and Deighton implemented dTIMS and the team provided GDOT with support and direction based on its extensive asset management experience. This ensured configuration of the PMS in accordance with global best practice.
As part of this project, the team provided the following services:
- Review and comment of the GDOT PMS specification documentation
- Provision of technical engineering and strategic asset management consulting advice through workshops, training, reports and meetings
- Configuration and population of the dTIMS asset management platform in accordance with GDOT specifications
- Ongoing SaaS operation
- Execution of network analysis and review of dTIMS recommendations with GDOT
- Documentation of dTIMS setup, operation and maintenance.
dTIMS was implemented successfully in a SaaS environment at GDOT. Staff have been trained and are currently using dTIMS to support the life cycle planning of their pavement network. Deighton looks forward to a long relationship with GDOT.
